Getting to Brussels

You can fly to Brussels Airport in Zaventem. From there, it should take you about 20 minutes to arrive downtown by either bus or train (Brussels Airport [BRU] → Brux.-Central). The train is probably the best option to go to the city center.

By bus, you can change at Schuman where you can catch the underground to go faster to the city center. By train, the best stop is central station. From there you can easily reach the city center by foot.

Taxis are quite expensive. If you choose this option consider taking an official taxi.

There are also flights going to “Brussels South Charleroi Airport”. From there you can ask a “bulk” ticket to go to any station in Belgium for €10.50: it allows you to take a bus to Charleroi station and then a train to Brussels.

For those coming from outside of Europe, it is sometimes easier (or cheaper) to reach Brussels by flying to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport (also called Paris Roissy) and taking a fast train (TGV) in the airport terminal to Brussels. It is strongly recommended to book it in advance. You then arrive in Brussels South station, officially “Bruxelles Midi”. Notice that Air France and KLM operate in this way. When flying with these companies, you can buy a flight ticket to Brussels, choosing Brussels Midi TGV Railway St (ZYR) as final destination, that already includes the train ticket from Paris.

The workshop will take place at the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles) on the campus “Plaine” in the building NO (pictured on the side).

To reach the campus, the best way is to use the metro (line 5 direction Hermann-Debroux) and get off at the station “Delta”. You should count 20 minutes from the Gare centrale.

Then take the exit n° 2 and follow the direction VUB–ULB. You will have to cross the FORUM (see on the map of the campus) and follow the direction “N.O. physique — mathématiques”. This will take you another ten minutes.

If you come by car :

Please follow these indications and be aware of the traffic jams. You can park your car in one of the parkings at “Accès 4” or “Accès 2”. You will need to place in evidence in your car a special autorization for the meeting that you will be able to download one week before the meeting.
