The Nord-Pas de Calais mathematical research Federation, regrouping the mathematical laboratories of the Universities of Artois, Lille 1, Littoral and Valenciennes, has a long tradition of collaboration with the mathematical departments of the Belgian Universities of Brussels, Gent, Leuven, Louvain-la-Neuve, and Mons. This international conference will reinforce the existing collaborations between Nord-Pas de Calais and Belgian mathematicians and foster new ones. It will also help to develop the links with mathematicians of nearby countries. Ph. D. students will particularly benefit form this meeting as they will be able to expose their results to an audience of closely located researchers with whom it is easy to initiate joint research projects.
